MyLann would like to present our new exciting program called "MyLann Foodie's Review". For this program, we chose our own MyLann Foodies based on various aspects who go around Yangon and dine at different places as undercover. MyLann Foodies do it undercover in order to get the real dining experience of the places. After that, foodies will write unbiased, non-personal, constructive reviews based on 3 factors: food quality, decoration & customer service.

The main purpose of this program is to introduce exciting and tasty places and dishes to MyLann friends and fans. By reading "MyLann Foodie's Review", we want to make sure you can imagine yourself being physically at the place tasting the dishes. Also, we want to make sure "MyLann Foodie's Review" will give you how the dining experience at those places will feel like, as close as possible. We hope you will enjoy it very much.

MyLann Foodie's Review #1

As a new MyLann Foodie, I took my liberty to visit "Rangoon Tea House", a recently opened high-end tea center amidst the historical colonial buildings, located on one of the main roads in Yangon downtown area, Pansoedan Road. The first impression was their unique, neat and tidy decoration. It's just simply grand and everything is placed around the restaurant in a nice position to fine details. One example is their big shelf, beautifully filled up with custom logo-imprinted tea boxes, jars, and cups.

As soon as I sat down at a window-side spot, a smiling waitress greeted by giving me the menu for food. I was quite shocked to see 16 different ways of making burmese tea on the front page of the menu, well-described with eye-pleasing illustrations. So, I decided to order Kyat Yay Pawt Cho Saint instead of my regular Cho Saint, because that name seemed the most interesting to me. Plus, I ordered "Pyay Paratha" for my main dish.

The tea arrived. As soon as I took the first sip, I could immediately connect with the given name because the layers of tea (Kyat Yay), condensed milk and evaporated milk are quite complex that I could feel different tastes of the tea. As I was enjoying my tea slowly, my long-waited Pyay Paratha. It was a little thick curry paste mixed with tender chicken and potatoes. The taste was just right, not too strongly spiced, not too blend. It tasted rather like a home-cooked curry than a restaurant one. For someone like me who doesn't like strong spices, it was at a perfect state. The one thing about Pyay Paratha is how good the paratha tastes. From the first look, I didn't think it will have a real paratha taste and texture. I was completely wrong. Just from the first bite, Foodie's face became filled with smiles because of the softness and rich taste of paratha.

I have been interested in this charming shop "Rangoon Tea House", since the time it was under construction. Once I arrived physically at the place, I could link to the owner's rare creativity and imagination rather than just making another restaurant for profits. Different people have different opinions about this place since the beginning it opened, but in my opinion, Rangoon Tea House is just a well-decorated and hygiene place which promotes Myanmar traditional food and tea shop culture and experience to a higher level.
